For this week I sat down with me, Kelin, the President of Active Minds
Q: What is the name of your organization? Do you go by any nicknames or abbreviations?
A: Active Minds
Q: What is the purpose/mission of your organization?
A: The goal of our organization is to spread positivity and do what we can to end the stigma that surrounds mental health. We are a suicide prevention and mental health awareness group
Q: What days/times does your organization typically meet?
A: Monday at 7:30 every other week.
Q: Do you have any upcoming/recurring events you would like to be made known?
A: Fresh Check Day! We have partnered with several on campus organizations to bring the University of Iowa’s first ever mental fair. There will be free food, prizes, music and an opportunity to check in on your mental health. The event will be Wednesday, April 5th from 10Am-4pm in Hubbard Park.
Q: Why did you personally get involved with this organization?
A: I found out about it though the counseling center. I have a personal connection to mental health, and wanted to do my part in ending the stigma!
Q: What makes you passionate about this organization?
A: Similar to how I got involved, I have personal experiences with mental health issues and suicide. I want to help as many people as I can, and I love being able to spread positivity on campus.

A: This organization is a ton of fun and you get to do a lot of really good things! I hope that you’ll join and help in our cause!
