Is it just me or is finals week approaching fast? This week my adventures are inspired by finals and the most important thing you need while studying… pencils. Just kidding – I’m not about to waste your time and talk about pencils. This week we’re talking food and study spaces. If you’re anything like me you spend hours in the library eating candy and drinking LOTS of coffee. To help you prepare for finals I am highlighting study spaces on campus where you can also grab some food.
First up, the Main Library…a personal favorite of mine. I love the library because it not only has Starbucks coffee, but it also has five floors of study spaces. The higher up you go, the quieter it gets. When studying in the library, check out the Food for Thought Cafe. (What a cute name! Am I right?) As I mentioned, there is coffee but they also have a variety of snacks and quick bites perfect for studying. Food for Thought Cafe in the Main Library is open from 7 am to 11 pm, you can use flex meals and charge to your UBill.
Next up, double trouble in the Iowa Memorial Union (IMU). The IMU has countless spaces for studying on every floor and several places to grab food, my personal favorites are Union Station and Union Market. Both are located on the ground floor of the IMU right next to each other. Union Station is the perfect place to grab a quick meal with lots of food options and my personal favorite – ice cream. Union Station is open from 7 am to 7 pm, you can use flex meals here or charge to your UBill. If you’re not looking for an actual meal and just want to grab a quick snack, the Union Market may be better for you. Open from 9 am to 11 pm, the Union Market is perfect for grab and go snackers. Also make sure to check out finals week at the IMU!
Next, the Pappajohn Business Building (PBB), which contrary to freshman Alison’s belief, is not an actual pizza restaurant. PBB has lots of study space that you do not have to be a business student to use. Inside PBB is Pat’s Diner, open from 7 am to 8 pm. Pat’s Diner offers quick meals including pizza and lots of snacks. I recommend the muffins. They also accept UBill and Flex swipes.
If you need some air between studying, I recommend stepping outside and grabbing a quick meal at the Street Hawk Food Truck on the T. Anne Cleary Walkway right outside PapaJohn. Open from 11 am to 3 pm, the menu at Street Hawk is packed with flavor and will keep you full for all those study sessions.
Regardless of where you study this finals week make sure you are still getting a good meal. I found the key to a great finals week and every week is not skipping a meal. Good luck to everyone on finals! The whole Student Outreach Team is in your corner!
Special thanks to the best bosses in the world for their support and allowing me to have these adventures. Stay tuned for more adventures in the Fall! Have a great summer & Go Hawks!
