What is the purpose/mission of your organization?

We are a student organization on campus whose goal is to educate students on marrow and blood stem cell donation and give them the opportunity to join the Be The Match Registry through the University of Iowa Marrow Donor Program. Every year, 10,000 patients in the US are diagnosed with life-threatening diseases such as leukemia or lymphoma, and their best option for a cure is a transplant from an unrelated marrow donor.  They depend on the Be The Match Registry to find a match.

What days/times does your organization typically meet?

We meet every other week on Tuesday 7PM in the Indiana Room, IMU

Do you have any upcoming events you would like to be made known?

Hawkeyes Move For Marrow 5K will be April 8th, 2018 at 10AM in the City Park

Why did you personally get involved with this organization? What makes you passionate about this organization?

“I donated bone marrow!”

“A student from my school has leukemia and I want to help them find a match.”

“I wanted to be a part of a student org that has a long lasting impact.”
